Who is this mystery woman?
Hey y’all, I’m Chasity (Chaz for short) and up until about 14 years ago, I don’t think I ever even said y’all. I was born and raised on the south shore of Lawn Guyland (yes, that’s how they say it) and lived a very happy existence as a music geek and social butterfly until I ran off to college in the frozen tundra of western New York.
(No, really… have you ever BEEN to Buffalo in the winter? I have three words for you… Lake. Effect. Snow.)
Pharmacy was where I started out, but destiny has it’s way of catching up with you and I changed my major mid-sophomore year to psychology. I have always been /that girl/. I’m the listener. The advice-giver. The hand-holder. The cry-with-you-so-you-don’t-cry-alone type. You know who I’m talking about. You probably have a /that girl/ of your very own to share your tissues with.
Anyway, I realized that my calling wasn’t in slinging pills into bottles, but in using my gift of gab for helping people. So I continued the Chaz-Northeast-Tour to Boston. (GO EAGLES!) Worked my booty off and am proud to say I graduated with my Masters degree in Clinical Social Work. If you know anything about the mental health field, I can safely say that I am quite the senior citizen and can boast that I’ve been helping others to face their challenges for 18 years now.
Then, as many interesting stories go, I met a wonderfully patient man (let’s be honest, he needs to be to put up with me) and moved south of the Mason-Dixon. Here I was introduced to sweet tea, fried… everything, saying y’all, and blessing folks’ hearts. We’ve been married a little over a decade and are parents to a kick-ass little fireball of a daughter. I’m also a proud #dogmom of two rescues!
What else is there to know about me?

What are you going to talk about?
Girl, I started talking at 9 months and I haven’t shut up since. (ba-dum-bum)
I am passionate about many things and just wanted a place to put them all together. And if you caught it above, I’m a helper. A doer. If I can connect with someone online who was looking for a topic I’m discussing, then it is a WIN!
What’s with the koi fish?
I am completely fascinated with Japanese culture. Traveling to Japan is #1 on my bucket list right now.
According to Chinese and Japanese myth, there was once a giant school made up of thousands of koi fish swimming up the Yellow River in China. By swimming against the current, they gained strength. However, further along on the Yellow River, there is a large waterfall. Upon reaching the waterfall, most koi turned back and just swam with the current because it became too hard. The ones who remained continued to try to reach the top of the waterfall for one hundred years. At last, one koi successfully leaped to the top of the waterfall. To reward this dedicated koi, the gods turned it into a beautiful golden dragon.
These falls have been dubbed the “Dragon’s Gate.” And legend has it that to this day, any koi that has the strength and perseverance to complete to journey up Dragon’s Gate will become a heavenly dragon.
It is also said that if a koi is caught, it will await the cut of the knife with the bravery of a Samurai warrior facing the sword in battle.
Koi are beautiful symbols of both strength and courage in the face of adversity.
What won’t I find here?
No ugly. No hate. No scrubs (I don’t want no scrubs, a scrub is a guy who can’t get no love from me…).
Did I mention I’m prone to break out into song lyrics and (sometimes awkward) dance moves?
